We are officially midway through August!
If you're like us, you're embracing every moment with warm breezes, summer rain, and later sunsets. That doesn't mean we aren't positively pumped for the upcoming school year (because we are!)
We recently had the opportunity to catch up with Moe123 Scholar Jireh Babalola about how she's spent her summer, how she's been preparing for her first year at Bethel University here in the Twin Cities, and what she's looking forward to most.
Q: What has been the most enjoyable part of your summer?
A: Having free time to work, study, and to have fun!
Q: In what ways have you prepared this summer for your first year of college?
A: I prepared this summer by working to get more money for college. I registered for classes. I had to take a math placement test which I have been preparing for. I spoke to the track coach on joining track when school starts.
Q: What part of your first year of college are you looking forward to most?
A: I'm excited to be going to a new environment, getting to meet new people and joining a new sport and getting involved in several activities.
Q: Have any parts of the college preparation process made you nervous? How have you worked through that?
A: I feel nervous about leaving my house because I always stayed with my parents since I was born. Also, I'm nervous about missing out on something important, for instance, a deadline. I have worked through that by regularly checking the school website for an upcoming deadline and keeping in touch with my counselor.
Q: When do you begin school? A: My move in date is August 29 and classes start September 1.
Q: Is there anything else you'd like to share with us? A: I honestly want to thank this scholarship and I pray it goes far to be a blessing to other families. I can't thank this scholarship enough. I would be forever grateful!
In addition to the Moe123 Scholarship Fund award that Jireh received, she has also earned a full ride to Bethel through the Act Six program. We are thrilled and proud of Jireh's accomplishments. Join us in wishing her the and all of our Moe123 Scholars well as they embark on their next education adventure!
