Hear from Jeliah Ogega

Jeliah Ogega

We're a week into August and the back-to-school vibes are in full swing!

To continue our summer celebration of our 2019 Moe123 Scholars, we hear from Jeliah Ogega who is headed Washington D.C. for college to attend Howard University! She plans to study nursing with a health administration or communications minor to help her pursue her goal of becoming a neonatal or pediatric nurse practitioner.

Q: What has been the most enjoyable part of your summer?

A: I've spent most of my days working, but I have enjoyed being around my family and friends and spending as much time with them as I can before I leave.

Q: In what ways have you prepared this summer for your first year of college?

A: This summer, I've just been working and trying to save money for my first year. I have met with advisors for a few scholarships and have searched for more scholarships, but haven't been very

successful in finding some that I am eligible for.

Q: What part of your first year of college are you looking forward to most?

A: I think I am looking forward to being involved in campus activities and finding opportunities for growth through leadership and volunteering. I am also looking forward to meeting people that look like me yet may be so different than who I am, lear about their history/background, as well as that of African Americans which will be new because it's not often brought up in the traditional high school setting.

Q: When do you begin school?

A: I begin school August 19th.

We wish Jeliah and all of our Moe123 Scholars the best of luck as they embark on the next part of their education journeys!
